Design the return
The return journey deserves the same attention as the outbound journey.
Make responsibility clear
Specify who initiates collection, provides packaging and records asset identity. A return route needs a destination and an agreed handover. Unclear ownership can stop a technically sound recovery plan.
Protect the value
Handling and storage can determine whether an item remains repairable. Match packaging and transport to the asset condition and next use. Avoid damaging the value the return system is intended to preserve.
Connect the information
Return reasons and condition records can inform product changes. Make those records available to the people who can act on them. A logistics loop should also be a learning loop.
